The 3 Greatest Artists of All Time

Here’s my list of the three greatest artists of all time.

Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali was a Spanish artist who lived from 1904 to 1989 and was arguably the greatest Surrealist artist. Why is Salvador Dali famous? He is a painter known as being eccentric. He wed Gala, his dearly loved muse, who is a subject found ina lot of his paintings. It is projected that Dali has painted in excessof 1,500 pieces. On top of this, Dali also produced some experimental film making, writing and sculpting. He also produced, along with Walt Disney, an animated short called Destino. Prior to his death, Dali tried his hand in fashion, ballet, advertising illustrations, jewelry, opera.

Dali was repeatedly at odds in the company of other affiliates of the “official” Surrealist assembly. This group of artists habitually disliked the essence of his paintings. Moreover, his conservative views were detested as well. In 1934, he was kicked out of the “official” Surrealist circle.

Dali was known to paint everyday objects in out-of-the-ordinary ways. Frequent symbols found in his paintings include eggs, clocks, ants and elephants. Dali’s most famous work came to be The Persistence of Memory, which he painted in 1931. This painting gave us the initial emergence of the “soft watch” also known as melting clocks. Dali used this as a symbol for the human fixation of the nature
of time positioned in opposition to people.

An American art dealer brokered The Persistence of Memory. The broker, Julien Levy, had counseled Dali at the onset – that this paining, in all probability, would not sell. However, it sold and in next to no time was found in New York’s Museum of Modern Art. Surrealism was soon linked with Dali by the American people and because of this he graced the cover of Time Magazine in 1963.

The Persistence of Memory has returned to New York’s Museum of Modern Art and can be found there at the current time. The Disintegration of The Persistence of Memory is the follow-up work to
this painting and was completed by Dali in 1954. This follow-up painting is currently housed in St. Petersburg, Florida at The Salvador Dali Museum. His other paintings are shown in public art galleries and museums around the world.

Van Gogh

Vincent Willem van Gogh , born on March 30th 1853 in Zundert Netherlands, was a great Dutch painter, a skill he inherited from his mother Anna Cornelia Carbentus who also loved to paint.Van Gogh took up painting in 1881 with some of his early work being on still life and some laborers. As time went by, his work developed to incorporate new approaches to still life arts as well as local landscapes which made him popular during his stay in Arles, France.

During this period, Van gogh became obsessed with art that he neglected his physical health spending all his resources on paint.Spending too much time on art he started suffering from psychological as well as physical illness. The illness was so serious that his brother, Theo, got so worried that he contracted Paul Gaugin to watch over van Gogh.Van Gogh’s psychological health deteriorated to an extent that the residents of Arles came to an agreement that Van Gogh was dangerous which made van gogh to relocate to the St Paul Asylum in St Remy.

Here he took up painting again and was called to exhibit his paintings in brussels where he exhibited great works like the “Irises” which is rated one of the most expensive arts in the world at $53.9 million dollars. On the year 1890, Van Gogh discharged himself from St Paul and got under the care of Dr.Paul Gachet. However, his psychological illness got to its peak on July 27 1890 when he used a loaded pistol and shot himself on the chest, sustained internal injuries and passed on two days later on July 29 1890 at 37 years of age.

During his life time Van Gogh has completed more than 2000 works of paint with some of his paintings ranking among world’s most expensive paintings like his portrait of Dr.Gachet which sold at 82.5 million dollars.

Pablo Picasso

“He can who thinks he can, and he can’t who thinks he can’t. This is an inexorable, indisputable law” Pablo (also Pablito) Diego Jose Fransisco de(of) Paula Juan Nepomuceno Maria de(of) los Remedios Cipriano de(of) la Santisima Trinidad Ruiz y(and) Picasso. Yes, believe it or not, the above is the series of names Pablo Picasso was given on his baptism in honor of certain saints and relatives.

So who exactly is Pablo Picasso? Born on the 25th of October 1881, Picasso was a renowned Spanish painter, sculptor, poet, ceramist, playwright et cetera of the 20th century whose famous artworks include Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, Asleep, Seated Woman (Marie-Therese), Three Musicians among many others. Maria Picasso the wife to Jose Ruiz bore their firstborn child Picasso, in Malaga, a city in the Andalusian territory.

Picasso’s father Don Jose was a painter who for a long time worked as a curator at a local museum and professionally taught art at the School of Crafts. “piz, piz” these, as stated by his mother, were the first words Picasso uttered; piz is short for lapiz, Spanish for pencil. At age seven, Picasso officially began to study art under his father’s training.

The year 1891 had them move from Malaga to A Coruna, where his father got a job as an art professor at the School of Arts. However, they only stayed there for close to 4 years and moved to Barcelona following the death of Picasso’s sister in 1895. She was only 7 years old when she died of diphtheria. His father got a position in the area’s School of Arts where at age 13, Picasso passed the advanced class entrance exam having completed it in a week beating the usual one month other students took.

In his early teens, Picasso’s father and uncle sent young Picasso to Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, Madrid’s then leading art school. Picasso dropped out soon after joining as he had issues with been given instructions and was distracted by Madrid’s vast activities. His stay in Madrid and interactions, some which influenced his life negatively, played a huge role in molding Picasso into the artist history remembers him as.

North Face vs Patagonia – Two Best Travel Brands?

If you’re interested in outdoor wear, then the likelihood is that you’ve heard of both the North Face and Patagonia. They’re two of the most popular brands on the market when it comes to mountainwear, so it’s no surprise that people look to compare the two. But are North Face products better than Patagonia, or are their products relatively similar for the most part?

The North Face and Patagonia are very similar in terms of quality – this is agreed on by the majority of people. So, it then comes down to personal preference of each individual to decide which of these products is more suited to their needs. They’re two of the best winter jacket brands that you’ll find to keep you warm.

Although they are similar, the likelihood is that you will prefer one of these brands over the other. This doesn’t mean to say that one of them is drastically better in quality as they are similar, but from a fashion sense, they both represent very different styles. Let’s have a look at the history of each brand, and then look at the best of each brands.

Brand History

The reality is that although the North Face are currently one of the most popular brands around, it hasn’t always been that way. In 2000 they were purchased as a relatively unpopular company by the VF corporation. In the years since then, the North Face has gone from strength to strength and they’re pioneers in the popularisation of outdoor clothing as a fashion symbol.

One reason that you might want to consider going for Patagonia as a brand is that they state they donate 10% of their profits to charity – they classify themselves as an activist company. This is particularly impressive, especially when you consider the size of the company. They also have a scheme where you can return old Patagonia products in exchange for credit, so that you can purchase new stuff – pretty innovative.

After looking at the brands history, let’s have a look at the different products of each company to see which is best for your needs.

The North Face

The North Face have a wide variety of different products, but they’re probably best known for their backpacks.

North Face Backpacks

There are a lot of different types of North Face backpack available, but one of my favorites is the North Face Recon. I like it because of it’s versatility – it’s as good for hiking as it is for college.

[amazon box=”B07657ZZ4M” template=”horizontal”]

If you don’t like the typical black that the North Face Recon is available in, not to worry – it’s available in a ton of different colors for you to pick from. This means that no matter what color it is that you really want, you’re going to find a color that suits you.

The Recon specifcally has pretty much everything that you could ask of it. Need a laptop sleeve? The Recon has it. Need something that carries water bottle? Yep, it has that too. It seems like they thought of everything when they were designing the Recon, so you can use it for pretty much any occasions.

Other North Face Products to Consider

  • North Face Beanies – If you’re looking for a good quality beanie that isn’t extortionate in price, then you should be considering the ones made by the North Face. They’re pretty good value, and guaranteed to keep your head warm.
  • Other backpacks – It isn’t only the Recon that the North Face make – they also make the Borealis and the Wise Guy, two other great backpacks.
  • Clothing and windbreakers – You can’t walk through the streets of London without seeing a youngster wearing a North Face windbreaker. But they aren’t just fashion, they’re also super practical too.

Patagonia also make a variety of different products for you to choose from too. Their most popular product is probably their pullovers.

[amazon box=”B00697XAM8″ template=”horizontal”]

Although they are particularly expensive, with Patagonia you’re paying for some high quality materials that are being used as fabrics. You can be sure that if you go with Patagonia, it’s definitely going to last you a while. This one is awesome if you want something thick that will keep you warm throughout the winter.

Overall, both North Face and Patagonia are going to be safe options if you’re looking for a good piece of outdoors clothing. Whilst North Face are generally considered as to moving on and targeting a more fashion conscious generation, Patagonia have stayed true to their roots and produce some awesome outdoors gear that’s stylish too. Other outdoors brands like Columbia also have tended to stay true to their origin, too.

Of course, it’s important to consider that Patagonia actually donate some of their profits to charity. So if this is something that’s important to you, then considering them as your brand of choice is likely to be a good decision. But whichever brand you decide, you’re going to get a decent quality product.

If you’re looking for something more fashion conscious, then you can always look at other brands like Jansport (owned by the same company as TNF) or even Herschel Co. They all produce some pretty good quality products that aren’t too expensive.

Which speakers should I use for my Art Gallery?

If you’re thinking about getting some new speakers for your art gallery, then you’re in luck. I’ve recently had to introduce some new speakers for my sound system as when I have friends over, it’s nice to have some good ambient music as they travel around the studio. So, I needed to get myself a good set of speakers for this.

Though one thing that I didn’t want was a big set of bulky speakers taking up half the showroom. This is a common problem with big speakers, so I needed to get something that could be easily hidden. And then, it came to me; I could get myself some in wall speakers to deal with this issue. This way, I wouldn’t have to worry that they’d be getting in the way all of the time. Good idea, right?

So, I went about trying to find some good in wall speakers that I could use for my sound system, and here’s what I’ve found.

You should really opt for a common and popular brand if you don’t want to have a masssive outlay. This is because you’re more than likely needing more than just some in wall speakers – you might need a lot of other things in your system, too. You can look at center channels and other types of speakers to help you when you’re looking at speakers, so it’s a good idea to do this.

If you have a bigger budget, then you could definitely look at some Klipsch products for your sound system. They may also give you a good sound coming from your system, but definitely don’t rely on the in wall speakers to do it on their own. You need a full system to get a good sound coming from your stereo, so it only makes sense that you opt for a good full stereo system and if you’re going for one from Klipsch, then this can cost thousands of dollars.

I didn’t need anything major like this, so I ended up going for something a lot smaller from Polk Audio. I chose Polk because

  1. They’re very easy to install. I managed to do this myself with no help from others!
  2. They’re a good price. Though not the cheapest, I found they’re a good price if you compare them to other brands on the market.
  3. The grills look good. With some in wall speakers, the grill looks bad so it doesn’t matter that it’s in the wall – it’s still an eyesore!

Overall, I’m really happy with my speaker choice and I’d be more than happy to recommend them to other people that I meet. They’re really a great set of speakers and there aren’t many others online I’ve found that can compete with these speakers from Polk.
